Right! </p><p>So I finally managed to get my Night Spirit Studio ornaments stitched up and sent off to friends. The highlighter seems to have come out and I’m pretty happy with the finishing. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_9AOa0tgCeLG7IGGk6Kd5iyuhTK5Pk5_fRJPLfq5yzScdRaQc9svU8yrDIUwOd10_GRvHvdHuo9tfjJk4bL1DeUmEKBINZQTmG5qYSQnh3e3ewZWMFOsjxHlMmaqKmcmhk22b0Q/s2048/A7881EB3-1740-4C75-B8DC-4A649C5BC212.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_9AOa0tgCeLG7IGGk6Kd5iyuhTK5Pk5_fRJPLfq5yzScdRaQc9svU8yrDIUwOd10_GRvHvdHuo9tfjJk4bL1DeUmEKBINZQTmG5qYSQnh3e3ewZWMFOsjxHlMmaqKmcmhk22b0Q/s320/A7881EB3-1740-4C75-B8DC-4A649C5BC212.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p>I also managed to get my components finished and assemble Threadabead’s Cardinal box. I’m very happy with the way it turned out and will have to make another for myself someday. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5C5O-8gIvyI7mRpBB7siITX2_7gFDjcL5bzr5Gt-soCu5MGxaiKNF0p8UOJVUwgybkjeFulvRaH5t38kFjMRi4bMIl-5ddNWsEeVzOPkZjqyChlw4sXz40hyphenhyphenKuwl5B-oAYjxu8A/s2048/DDC07258-F26B-425C-8B1D-0EC17E3C1C99.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5C5O-8gIvyI7mRpBB7siITX2_7gFDjcL5bzr5Gt-soCu5MGxaiKNF0p8UOJVUwgybkjeFulvRaH5t38kFjMRi4bMIl-5ddNWsEeVzOPkZjqyChlw4sXz40hyphenhyphenKuwl5B-oAYjxu8A/s320/DDC07258-F26B-425C-8B1D-0EC17E3C1C99.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I was also able to get a fair amount of time in on my HAED. Coppervein’s wing is really starting to take shape. I really wanted to get a page finish but February was just a bit too short. Maybe I’ll aim for two in March to make up for it:)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2_XXxIa1LSnE8Bn-PrQXhgLiHC-aqNCp-RqQ_5kwD8NWbt9AvV1v1j3Mk057NnM4Bsu2hudNUOBKhsRWRqNNs2mNlVyoi7Mx-pIX40D2muQBWjr6vuy56ap9ZDZdifx9E8A4fSQ/s2048/5D49F553-AC9C-427C-8FE4-E7F913B7EFF6.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2_XXxIa1LSnE8Bn-PrQXhgLiHC-aqNCp-RqQ_5kwD8NWbt9AvV1v1j3Mk057NnM4Bsu2hudNUOBKhsRWRqNNs2mNlVyoi7Mx-pIX40D2muQBWjr6vuy56ap9ZDZdifx9E8A4fSQ/s320/5D49F553-AC9C-427C-8FE4-E7F913B7EFF6.jpeg" /></a></div><div><br /></div>And last but not least for February is a replacement project for the finished box. I started another Threadabead box, this time an Easter one that is going to be mine. Not far yet but a couple Easter eggs is a pretty good start for a few days of work on it. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv7TEYVbF-J-31EF2iwR-UDOGnjqW9aEVeEgSUaQM0b27LSFxVMLyDnLZ4Z83RVD5FYrtJoXJfZky1DpJe3qmuQJ3fweorHPGxNkX8pHxW-jrwG3j4kjDqYXw3jp2Pdps-ivYibA/s2048/FB7B1572-F73D-4F1E-ACCC-F6A77C2F59B4.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv7TEYVbF-J-31EF2iwR-UDOGnjqW9aEVeEgSUaQM0b27LSFxVMLyDnLZ4Z83RVD5FYrtJoXJfZky1DpJe3qmuQJ3fweorHPGxNkX8pHxW-jrwG3j4kjDqYXw3jp2Pdps-ivYibA/s320/FB7B1572-F73D-4F1E-ACCC-F6A77C2F59B4.jpeg" /></a></div><div><br /></div>March should be an interesting crafting month. The boys will be heading back to in person classes at school mid-month so I’m not sure if that means more or less crafting time yet. Hoping it means I’ll have a few mornings a week to blaze through a bit of housework and then a few hours to really focus on that dragon and his wing before they get back but we’ll see how it goes. Hope everyone has a warm, safe and crafty March! <br /><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p></div>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-90209796514865778512021-02-01T10:07:00.001-05:002021-02-01T10:09:06.491-05:00January 2021 WIPocalypse<p> Made it back for the end of January, that’s a good start for 2021! Thank you all for all the kind words about my projects. Cross stitch is my first love but beading has a special place in my heart too. I’m not the best finisher but beadwork takes care of that by incorporating the finishing into the pattern. I have enjoyed looking at all of your work too even if I haven’t been able to comment on all of the posts. </p><p>So I didn’t work on a variety of projects this month but I did start a new Threadabead box, the cardinal and snowman one. It’s my go to during virtual kindergarten and is just pieces at the moment but that snowman is adorable! Hoping to finish him off in February so he can move on to his new home.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNtwtmnE3yPMnCpuwarJ84TW-q2sKLNcharxc37W8aCd674wkFzBptS6oMMCuvEXNq_KKKD1hnVpq0Cf0wAhIHS8IGX9CWAiMuW42W4__v1RZC8PnM6PnSWET5LkLZkTOIV7ybdg/s2048/685D12F9-0547-46DC-BC36-3E553BC16C3A.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNtwtmnE3yPMnCpuwarJ84TW-q2sKLNcharxc37W8aCd674wkFzBptS6oMMCuvEXNq_KKKD1hnVpq0Cf0wAhIHS8IGX9CWAiMuW42W4__v1RZC8PnM6PnSWET5LkLZkTOIV7ybdg/s320/685D12F9-0547-46DC-BC36-3E553BC16C3A.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next up is Coppervein who got a lot of love in January. Now would probably be a good time to answer January’s question of the month too which deals with a project I’m struggling on. This one is definitely it, or was at least. That white/blue water and wave mix at the bottom is the reason I put this down after the last time I worked on it. It just seemed endless and difficult because of all the similar colors and confetti. When I picked it up this time though I used an alternating approach and did a thread length of white/blue and then a thread length of any other color. It was still hard but I pushed through and am now happily working through the reds of the wing on toward the sky. My goal is to put a good dent on this one in 2021. I’d love to finish but I know I don’t stitch that fast. It needs to be a top priority though as it is a gift promised to my brother when finished and it’s been hanging around the WIP pile for several years now. I’m at 7/45 pages complete now. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTMqJaHm6m4bq-bIMXQ-ZldRMAvvXchDhkYaTp0v2xB_svlwdsIlOUEm-Jj521gGNWCYlVV6snuiw-nZgYf9ywidMvX23vd2xN83T-MJSik5mWh5n5ytaeRrscjxpGMVzT6oabPg/s2048/91BBD114-6E89-48FD-B785-DC3665F4A2A0.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTMqJaHm6m4bq-bIMXQ-ZldRMAvvXchDhkYaTp0v2xB_svlwdsIlOUEm-Jj521gGNWCYlVV6snuiw-nZgYf9ywidMvX23vd2xN83T-MJSik5mWh5n5ytaeRrscjxpGMVzT6oabPg/s320/91BBD114-6E89-48FD-B785-DC3665F4A2A0.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One last bit of progress to report. I did get my ornaments partially finished only to discover when I turned them right side out after stitching the backing fabric on 3ish sides that they had met the highlighter at some point. Of course it was green highlighter on white stitching so they’ve spent a couple days soaking and I believe I got it all out. Phew! Hoping to stuff them and send them on their way in February too. See you all at the end of the month! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-14965541271991812042021-01-03T13:36:00.002-05:002021-01-03T13:38:46.016-05:00Welcome to 2021<p> So the end of the year got to me- still working, still virtual schooling 3 kids, took 3 week break from everything in December to battle covid but I recovered and I’m mostly fine now. Still dealing with a few weird after effects but apparently that is normal. </p><p>Crafting for the last couple months has been mostly confined to Christmas presents and I still owe some ornaments to dear friends who understand and a beaded box to my grandmother who also completely understands. </p><p>I don’t have a lot of cross stitch progress to show for 2020. I made very little progress on Fish City and stitched 4 ornaments that still need finishing off. I did finish the Vervaco birth announcement but it is buried right now so I’ll have to get a picture when I take it for framing. I did sew a ton of masks and do a fair amount of beadwork so I do have some pics to show off for the year...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdUbnBn-L8WRSZSjJlhkdbKvoSzoGQBhjeQEWTv6qqRIjhssIjO8ED_Z54LmBr-RjaCgo6ILU5YCIR6fY4y7JGwEelbTBXSD3cVlUiY5usUhEZkuk3jHaEw43svyCP5OYYCVu6Ow/s2048/0A63000A-4359-4E61-83F6-935040EAB801.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdUbnBn-L8WRSZSjJlhkdbKvoSzoGQBhjeQEWTv6qqRIjhssIjO8ED_Z54LmBr-RjaCgo6ILU5YCIR6fY4y7JGwEelbTBXSD3cVlUiY5usUhEZkuk3jHaEw43svyCP5OYYCVu6Ow/s320/0A63000A-4359-4E61-83F6-935040EAB801.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8qNC9NeUC-09DlmNPCHkIjcn-eO-adTId6P5Dc-4esNEtRApj7l-26tkX9L2JGVCT6XIeq0VQJjpNRLvo5QHSbdlNxfDLmbRzrQUUFkGNVmnGmskmFy0PHAQg8mPnP-tJ5DG_Tw/s2048/9EBC1044-CA86-4486-8AA7-86D848B23B4E.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8qNC9NeUC-09DlmNPCHkIjcn-eO-adTId6P5Dc-4esNEtRApj7l-26tkX9L2JGVCT6XIeq0VQJjpNRLvo5QHSbdlNxfDLmbRzrQUUFkGNVmnGmskmFy0PHAQg8mPnP-tJ5DG_Tw/s320/9EBC1044-CA86-4486-8AA7-86D848B23B4E.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_1A7cd_xlaLjRyzxNNzfUZnIVmc5TqJ3aZLmqeW736PyrrNdFoVENzcSXtR1dnkhxAdozmQ83cNNf3J9juWedxaVpI2_UkUA8HytpzErRzTU8cRVSEROYpD300HWCSJUxN6KgPg/s2048/95E75DB1-2CA5-4982-B99F-AA6D96B9AF4B.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_1A7cd_xlaLjRyzxNNzfUZnIVmc5TqJ3aZLmqeW736PyrrNdFoVENzcSXtR1dnkhxAdozmQ83cNNf3J9juWedxaVpI2_UkUA8HytpzErRzTU8cRVSEROYpD300HWCSJUxN6KgPg/s320/95E75DB1-2CA5-4982-B99F-AA6D96B9AF4B.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The boxes and flower designs are by Threadabead and the star pattern is from Dimarca. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I don’t want to set a rigid list of goals for 2021 since I’m not quite sure what it will bring. I hope to do some beading or stitching daily. While the kids are doing virtual school it is easier to work on small stitching or beading projects. The HAED bug also bit recently so I’m working on getting an alternate stitching space for bigger projects set up in the living room. It should be ready within a week or so as soon as my new lamp arrives. I’ve currently got a spot in the downstairs family room but it’s not always the most convenient spot to keep an eye on what the boys are up to outside of school hours. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My current goal, subject to change with the first shiny, new project I see, is to get as far as I can on Coppervein. I took a quick starter pic last night, hoping to have a lot to show at the end of the month. I remember this particular page being a real challenge with all of its light shades but I have been pushing through without issue last night and this morning. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv9jWPC7C6kO8qIuteZhDr2EmV28A5aob1J5PtGrh_3mK0gEIudb1tG4aV4_OqArTtmaMnYgyCkLB5e53Se4UzSyGOXVIRd7Jt-rNia9sAuK_qjaKnjsDAAuj2_t-x5k5eXTE98g/s2048/04B30B88-3863-465E-9D8B-02F2428AF468.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv9jWPC7C6kO8qIuteZhDr2EmV28A5aob1J5PtGrh_3mK0gEIudb1tG4aV4_OqArTtmaMnYgyCkLB5e53Se4UzSyGOXVIRd7Jt-rNia9sAuK_qjaKnjsDAAuj2_t-x5k5eXTE98g/s320/04B30B88-3863-465E-9D8B-02F2428AF468.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I hope to alternate this project with finishing off the last ornaments I owe and the beaded box I mentioned above and have some pictures of the smaller projects finished, maybe even a page finish on the HAED by next time. The year is honestly kind of a blur. In any case I’ve been busy and productive though not necessarily in the manner I expected when I wrote my last entry. </p><p>I’ve made masks, lots of masks. I don’t machine sew so I’m not fast but I estimate I’m nearing or just past 200 now. They’ve gone to family, friends, coworkers, donations. It seems to be an easy project to work on while the kids do school and there seems to still be need so I will sew on. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQOFuHeuwJGqzZekIoEoWOJVG6IujlRsYRggiLzkTSKm-j1B-_WaigaiJ0RzjzfMATZ8-DW_SV8q5dhJJ-5B7pZmT1tfgA5XC2Coc2pO1dF5gdz4hMkE06YnRncmCvrbNzkdrQ3g/s2048/D05B1690-9F90-4569-A454-DFC00EE5BF1D.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQOFuHeuwJGqzZekIoEoWOJVG6IujlRsYRggiLzkTSKm-j1B-_WaigaiJ0RzjzfMATZ8-DW_SV8q5dhJJ-5B7pZmT1tfgA5XC2Coc2pO1dF5gdz4hMkE06YnRncmCvrbNzkdrQ3g/s320/D05B1690-9F90-4569-A454-DFC00EE5BF1D.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p>Outside of school hours I’ve done more beading than stitching. And I mostly kept to plans, even better. 2020 is definitely off to a promising start, I feel like I can accomplish quite a bit this year. As promised I finished the last snowflake pod for my son but sadly forgot to snap a pic before it got stashed away with the Christmas decorations until much later this year. Fear not though, it was a replica of the purple/gold/white one in last month’s pictures so you’re not really missing anything new. I also worked on both Coppervein and the Russian sampler. Coppervein is slow going at the moment as I truly despise the almost white on white stitching in the current section but I will slowly force my way through it. The Russian sampler, on the other hand, is coming together quickly. I managed to finish off the letters and am so close to a border finish.<br />

Sadly the holly boxes did not get any love this month but there’s always February and I hope to make them my beading focus in the coming month. I have a feeling the Russian sampler is going to command most of my attention as I’m coming up on the fun part, the St. Basil’s center, and I hope to work on Coppervein a bit more as well. My other goal for the month is making it around to all the other blogs, missed you all last year and hope to have more time for blog hopping this year. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In answer to Measi’s monthly question about SALs for 2020 I am participating in none. Too many WIPs and not a lot of crafty budget make it an easy choice for the most part except for a certain FB beading group that insists on posting gorgeous BAL projects. I’m trying hard to print them and tuck away for later and am succeeding so far but I never did spend my birthday money so maybe one day. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
See you all in a month!</div>

So blogging didn’t happen in 2019. Had some image hosting issues at the beginning of the year and then work and family stress took over. Had two major family deaths- my mother-in-law, who was a big supporter of my craft, and also my grandfather. We also lost our 12 year old American Bulldog who occasionally appeared here. Somehow we’ve made it to the last day of 2019 and I’m sorry to see that my last check in was January but I’m grateful to be here now and hopeful for a much brighter 2020. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Looking back I don’t actually have a lot of cross stitch to show but I did make a little progress, had a couple new starts, and did a bunch of beadwork. My goals for 2020 are pretty modest- annual Christmas ornaments for the kids, handmade Christmas presents for close family, and mostly stitch/bead from stash. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I’m not sure why Blogger opted to randomize and rotate some of my pics but we’ll go with it today and aim to fix it next time. My first goal for January is to finish off the 2019 pod ornaments for my boys. I started them before Christmas but needed to borrow a couple to use as presents and promised the boys remakes in their chosen colors. Hoping to put a bit of work into my own Holly box as well as one for my father-in-law. Also planning to put some more stitches into either Coppervein or the Russian sampler. January also happens to be my birthday month so all plans subject to change depending on gifts received. The DH has my crafty wishlist and knows where to buy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hope everyone has a bright and peaceful start to 2020. See you all at the end of January.</div>

As far as stitching goes I have a big storage bin full of WIPs of various sizes and in various states of finish so I’m really not planning a bunch of new starts to add to it. I’m hoping to spend a lot of time on Coppervein with some deep dives into the WIP bin and maybe even a finish or two. The new starts I do have in mind are a Russian alphabet sampler I meant to start last year and some Christmas ornaments for the kids. Haven’t made a final ornament decision yet but I’m leaning toward the Mill Hill sleighs.</span><br />
<div style="caret-color: rgb(69, 69, 69); color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">

<div style="caret-color: rgb(69, 69, 69); color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
I have some more definite beading plans. I fell in love with Julia Pretl’s <a href="https://www.beadcave.com/julia/box_patterns.html" target="_blank">snowman box</a> and have the beads to make at least 3. I’d like one for myself and my mother and mother in law. Might be persuaded to make them for the boys instead of ornaments if they decide they like them and the pattern works up relatively easy. I will attempt to up my skill level and tackle the Threadabead <a href="https://threadabead.com/4530/1/3D-Beaded-Peyote-Ombre-Star-Ornament-Pattern-Bead-Pattern" target="_blank">Ombré Star</a>. I’ll decide on how many points once I get going, the pattern has directions for 6, 7 or 8. In my continuing attempt to decorate for holidays other than Christmas I also have plans for some Easter stars and have purchased Lady Lunar Kat’s egg and flower <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/584958910/easter-eggs-3d-peyote-star-beading?ref=shop_home_active_1&pro=1" target="_blank">stars</a>. </div>

<div style="caret-color: rgb(69, 69, 69); color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
So that’s what I have in mind and so far I’ve done pretty well in January. I pulled Space Traveler out of the WIP bin and did about half a page...</div>

I’m sure you’re shocked that I missed November’s check in. Nothing crazy happened except for the normal dash to the end of the year through the holidays. It was fun but I’m tired and have had way too much good food and am ready for some quiet, snowy days to craft and recharge.<br />
<br />
I feel like I didn’t stitch near as much as I planned this year but I fell deep down the beading rabbit hole and did craft a lot overall. Glad I didn’t really set specific goals since they would have been completely out the window. I do wish I would have gotten round to the Russian sampler I had kitted at the beginning of the year so I think I will try to alternate it and HAEDs in my 2019 stitching. I don’t plan on much in way of goals since I’m apparently easily distracted but want to spend some time in the WIP pile for sure.<br />
<br />
For now, how about a WIP/finish recap for 2018? I tried to find the earliest 2018 pics on the WIPs for a before/after. See you all in 2019!<br />

<br />
Well September and soccer got the better of me and I missed check in last month. But last week was the last soccer Saturday and hopefully we will now be getting back to our regular schedule. Oh wait a sec, it’s almost November so make that holiday prep schedule. Good news is that I discovered my latest obsession/hobby at a time where it can be used for holiday gift making. Bad news is that means less cross stitch this year but overall probably more crafting in general so not all bad, right?
Anyway, I do have a cross stitch finish to show for my time away. I finished Silver Creek Sampler’s My Christmas List recently.
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/31725941958/in/dateposted-public/" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="240" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1946/31725941958_89be3c68f2_m.jpg" width="180" /></a> <script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<br />
Stitched on Silkweaver’s opalescent Chocolate Vanilla Swirl (evenweave not linen) with some color changes, mostly used subtly variegated threads for the words and added green to the red, blue, brown color scheme. Hoping to turn it into a bellpull before Christmas.
On the beading front I’ve graduated to patterned stars and am adding some to my to-do list as Christmas gifts. Here are a few of the completed ones...
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/31725941248/in/dateposted-public/" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="240" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1907/31725941248_6efc69cd77_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/31725940588/in/dateposted-public/" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="240" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1945/31725940588_69d9cf6474_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<br />
And the turkey star I’m currently working on. He’s going to be giant compared to the others and will be a November birthday gift for my mother in law as she was a Thanksgiving baby.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/43780534250/in/dateposted-public/" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="240" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1908/43780534250_9f5f54af3c_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<br />
<br />
After I finish that one I have a few more in mind for Christmas presents, probably 2 fleece blankets to assemble for gifts, and then maybe some actual cross stitching again! Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-53067651356317025732018-08-29T08:46:00.001-04:002018-08-29T08:46:53.967-04:00August WIPocalypseSo I blinked and time has jumped from those first days of summer vacation to all the kiddos back in school. Yes, all of them.

<br />
I now have a fourth grader and two preschoolers which means lots of extra driving since preschool is only half days but also a bit of really quiet time in the house. It completely confuses the dog and is a tempting stitchy break when I happen to be home for it.
I’d like to say I worked on lots of projects since my last post but I haven’t, just two in fact. I have continued the beaded stars and finished several over the last couple months. It probably helps that we’ve had some long car trips and the warped squares that form the stars are easily done while riding in the passenger seat. I work with a small amount of beads at a time in a plastic bowl nestled into a small blanket or jacket on my lap to help steady it and so far no spills.

<br />
The other project for the summer has been Coppervein. Just looked at the last post pic and I’ve come a long way since May. I think I’m on track to finish off the first column by the end of the year if I keep going, maybe the first partial page of the second column to meet back up with the random second column page already finished.

I almost never remember to look at the question of the month but today I did so...
Question of the Month:Which is more satisfying to you and why – the process of stitching a piece, or the finish?
Both, actually. Finishing a quick project is quite satisfying especially if I can actually finish it off into a usable object quickly too but there’s something about the process of working through a large project and watching the small elements come together and gradually form a complete project that is also very satisfying.
Been thinking about September plans and I think it’s going to be more of the same. I really want to finish off a few more stars because Christmas is starting to get uncomfortably close. I’d also like to work through close to another page of Coppervein while it is still interesting. I know I’ll eventually get bored with it and have to rotate to something else for a bit but I want to get through as much as possible until then. See you all at the end of September!Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-15477174643187070132018-05-29T15:00:00.002-04:002018-05-29T15:00:27.476-04:00May WIPocalypseBack after a month’s break and a trip to Celebration of Needlework at the beginning of the month. I had an excellent time and stitched with old friends and new, brought home some goodies too. Four days was too short though, there were still a few people I only got to say hi to in passing and didn’t really get to spend time with. Next year!<br />
<br />
I took two classes while there- a crown sewing basket from Simona Bussiglieri and a Battenburg lace angel with Sue Blomley. Both were amazing teachers though the basket will take much more courage to finish than the angel. Pics below of the basket model (mine is still in the package!) and my lace angel which is almost ready for decorative stitches.<br />

<br />
And onto WIPocalypse- I did pretty much what I hoped since I’ve been gone. I completed not one but two beaded boxes. One has gone to my Mom (who loved it!) and the other will go to my mother-in-law shortly. I’ll just show one since they are the same, design is by Katie Dean.<br />

<br /></div>
I pulled threads and started My Christmas List at Celebration. I found the perfect size cut of Silkweaver Chocolate Vanilla Swirl sparkly evenweave in my stash and changed a few colors around to brighten it up an extra bit. I’m happy with the results so far...<br />

<br />
Since I’ve been home I’ve been alternating Christmas List with Coppervein and I’m so close to a page finish!<br />

<br />
<br /></div>
June goals- I don’t really have a beading project in mind but it would be nice to complete the green star I’ve got almost done and finish another. I’d love to finish another page of Coppervein and another page of My Christmas List but that’s a tall order with all 3 kids home for summer so we’ll see.<br />
<br />
Can’t wait to see what you all have been stitching!Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-49618334388067110842018-04-01T07:43:00.002-04:002018-04-01T07:43:44.367-04:00March WIPocalypse<span style="color: #454545; font-family: "uictfonttextstylebody"; font-size: 17px;">I’m a little late for WIPocalypse this month but better late than never:) Life kind of got in the way and work and Easter prep have taken a lot of my time. Hoping life slows down but Spring is here and soccer is starting so April will be filled with rides to and from practice and games. </span><br />

<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Thank you for all the kind words on my work last month. I had a lot of fun working on the stars and actually purchased a couple <a href="http://beadflowers.co.uk/" target="_blank">Katie Dean</a> Spring patterns to work on this month so I have some bunnies and chicks to show you...</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">

<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Most of these are Easter gifts but the boys want some for home too so I’m sure I’ll do a few more next Spring but I need a little break. I have plans to try a box in April but we’ll see how fast my beads arrive as I’m currently waiting on two orders. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Didn’t get nearly as much done on Castles as I’d have liked to but I’m hoping April will be the month. With all the beading I’ve been doing I’ve really missed stitching and my fingers are itching to get back to this one. This is the current state of Castles... </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">

</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Just about 30 days left until I leave for Celebration, looking forward to the long stitchy weekend and hopefully finding some fabric for Silver Creek’s My Christmas List which I received as part of my birthday present. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
So then April goals- work on Castles, try a beaded box and pull threads for My Christmas List. See you all in a month! </div>

My original Olympics plan got derailed by both Zelda and the stuffed beaded stars. Not only did I finish the blue one I showed last time but several more as well. They don’t all have their little rhinestone centers yet but only because I’ve found I need some good tweezers for placement and I want to try to glue them all in one big batch so I only have to deal with the glue fumes once.</span><br />

</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
I can’t complain too much about them taking up my stitching time though since they are going to be Christmas presents and now hopefully I won’t be frantically trying to finish things off in December. We’ll see if I can keep on track. I’m getting more requests for them by the day it seems! <a href="https://creative-angle.myshopify.com/products/beaded-stuffed-star-pattern" target="_blank">This</a> is where the pattern can be purchased if you are interested. They aren’t difficult once you get through the first piece or two and memorize the start. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
The sad little bit of actual stitching I did get done was on Castles. Thank you for the kind words on the last post about fabric choice. I decided the over one was too much to do all at once so I’m trying to alternate strands of over one with some of the regular stitching. Seeing the rest of the design start to emerge really makes me want to keep going on this one but I really need to show poor Coppervein some love in March too. Tune in next time to find out who wins my attention!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/39652087545/in/dateposted-public/" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4671/39652087545_d592e7b2d3_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So March plans- probably more stars and hopefully a combination of Castles in the Air and Coppervein. I think I’ve got most of the obsessive Zelda playing out of my system now so hopefully that won’t eat up too much of my crafty time. Been spending some time watching our oldest son play and helping him out lately which leaves my hands free to bead or stitch so maybe I’ll have a more productive March.<br />
<br />
In other stitchy news the registration is up for <a href="http://celebrationofnw.com/" target="_blank">Celebration of Needlework </a>in NH this May. We have the money and I can take the vacation time so I got registered and am counting down the days until my plane leaves. Very much looking forward to seeing everybody I stitched with last year again and making some new friends too.<br />

Thanks for all the happy and stitchy 2018 wishes. I tried to hit as many blogs as 3 kids in the house allows last month and loved seeing everyone’s WIPocalypse plans. I did okay in January though of course my original plans were immediately derailed in favor of a few unexpected projects. </span><br />

Got about halfway down the right hand side, not too bad for one round. And not to worry, stitchy bug wasn’t gone. The stitchy ADD kicked in because I found Castles in the Air on the WIP pile and decided now would be a good time to start the lettering so I have at least a little progress to show in May at Celebration. As you can see I’ve opted for some alternate text. It will eventually be the Thoreau quote about castles in the air. I’ve always liked that one and this seems a pretty appropriate piece for it. This one is being stitched on 32 count Lupine linen with DMC 712.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
My final project for the month has been to start something not so stitchy. I’ve been following a few Facebook stitchers who have been turning out beaded stars like crazy (pattern <a href="https://creative-angle.myshopify.com/products/beaded-stuffed-star-pattern" target="_blank">here</a>) and decided that these should be Christmas gifts. I’ve never done this sort of beading before but I have not had any trouble after figuring out the start. So far I’m almost done with the first one done in size 11 Delicas as the pattern suggests and I started a second with a red/pink mix of Czech glass beads almost the same size. They’re not quite as precision cut as the Delica brand but I saw them at Hobby Lobby and loved the color mix so I thought I’d give them a try. I haven’t seen anyone do anything but solid colors in the main part of the star but I love the way the first section looks so far, both colors and the way the beads are lining up. I see quite a few more stars in my future as several people have already requested them as Christmas gifts, my boys included. I know I said I was doing Mill Hill sleds for them but that may turn into a 2019 plan. Chris has already claimed my blue star and Josh has eyes on the green beads I bought but we’ll see when I get a few more done. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/39058152515/in/dateposted-public/" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4609/39058152515_436297d10d_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
I do have some stitchy plans for the next month, we’ll see if they stick. Hoping to continue the stars and finish at least the blue one if not the red one too. I plan on trying to finish the lettering for Castles or at least getting as far as I can before the Stitching Olympics start and then picking up Coppervein for the rest of the time before check in. It’s going to be February so no kid sports and the weather is likely to be cold so hoping for lots of stitchy time as long as I don’t get derailed by the Nintendo Switch. I got the newest Legend of Zelda for my birthday this month and it has seriously eaten into my stitching time despite being passed between my husband, oldest son and me. </div>

In case you’re landing here for the first time I’m Sara and I’m a stitcher, wife, Mom to 3 little boys, and retail pharmacist (gotta pay the bills and buy the stash somehow). I am participating in Measi’s WIPocalypse SAL again because it’s fun and my goal is of course to stitch all the stash. I have a bit of a BAP problem and apparently have quite a few more projects kitted and started than I realized before I recently combed through them all, unkitted the ones I’m not interested in any longer, and organized what was left. It would take years to finish the current WIPs if I stitched nothing else and I’m mostly ok with that because I’m not on a time limit except for one that is a gift.<br />
<br />
So let’s get started. First off, my helpers...<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/39547758021/in/dateposted-public/" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="182" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4641/39547758021_e0f5d5c30b_m.jpg" width="240" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
That’s Christopher, Joshua, and Benjamin (L-R). The twins are 3 and Josh is 9. They love that I stitch and are convinced that all pieces belong to them. They also love to help and are finally all old enough that I can stitch when they’re all awake though my progress is sometimes slower than I’d like.<br />
<br />
The current favorites in the house also happen to be my two focus pieces for the year, Watergarden and Coppervein. Watergarden is a Chatelaine and was started forever ago. It is mine despite Christopher’s claim that it is going to live in his room. It is likely destined for my living room wall and I kind of fell in love with it again recently so I’d like to get it done and hung sooner rather than later. I’m stitching on opalescent white even weave with most of the called for fibers except I did swap out the NPI silk for DMC and am happy with the results. I am a little farther along on the right side now but this is the most recent pic of the full piece.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/38679785044/in/dateposted-public/" title="Watergarden 12/30/17"><img alt="Watergarden 12/30/17" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4589/38679785044_51a2bdd9af_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Coppervein is a HAED I’m working on as a gift for my little brother. I promised him I’d stitch him a big piece when he graduated high school and moved out on his own. He took some time and picked it off the HAED site and I’ve been slowly working on it. I’d like to make some good progress on it in 2018 but I know it’s not feasible to finish it.<br />
<br />

<br />
And then there’s the bin.<br />

<br />
<br />
It holds quite a variety of unfinished projects including but definitely not limited to...<br />
<br />
The Jim Shore angel I started and really should finish for my MIL.<br />

The Shepherd’s Bush ornaments I never finished for my tree.<br />

<br />
<br />
The class projects from last year’s Celebration of Needlework.

<br />
And so many more which hopefully you will see in 2018. I’m not doing a strict stitch from stash year but I’m trying to work on WIPs more than new starts. That said, I do have a few new starts planned.
<br />

<br />
They are some of the Mill Hill sleds from last year and Russian Nights Sampler. These are actually for the kids. I try to stitch them an ornament each year so that they will have some of their own when they eventually leave and move out and this year they picked out the sleds. The sampler is an old, out of print design gifted to me by a dear stitchy friend (thank you Darla!) for my Josh who we adopted from Russia as a toddler. I have a few other Russian themed pieces I’d like to eventually stitch for him but at the moment he is fascinated with the look of the Cyrillic alphabet and St. Basil’s so this piece is perfect. I do have in stash Chatelaine’s White Nights of St. Petersburg, Terry Nolan’s Enchantment of Winter, a Thea Gouverneur (I think St. Basil’s), as well as a couple of kits we picked up while in Russia but please feel free to comment and point out any awesome pieces I may have missed. I hope to do a Russia wall someday and if Josh wants some of the pieces he will be welcome to take them when he moves out.
<br />
<br />
I think that’s a pretty good intro for today. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is up to and getting some work done on Watergarden so I ave new pics for you next time.

Nothing particularly bad happened just got busy with kids and school and work and soccer.<br />
<br />
Anyway since it is still December, how about a look back at what I've accomplished? My first big accomplishment was actually making it out to Celebration of Needlework in New Hampshire last May. It was a stitcher's dream to have so many teachers and vendors and stitchers in one spot and to meet in person so many stitchers I've gotten to know online over the years and some new ones too. The DH and I both took trips for our hobbies last year and had originally planned to alternate years but I think we've found a way to make Celebration 2018 fit into the budget😊
<br><br>As for the actual stitching, I didn't do so well blogging toward the end of the year but I was stitching. The finishes of 2017...<br />

<br><br>
I actually finished quite a lot more than it felt like during the year but none of them were the old WIPs, the ones that have birthdays and are older than my kids. I've got several of those and am hoping to clear out at least one or two in 2018. But we'll get into all that next time in the 2018 kick off post. I've been working on revising the WIPocalypse page of this blog for next year so check that out if you'd like a preview. For now, I think I'm going to go check out everyone else's blog and get some stitching time in while it snows and the kids are semi-quietly playing. Happy New Year, may it be a good and stitchy one.Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-62887881542930244032017-08-27T11:37:00.001-04:002017-08-27T11:37:23.976-04:00August WIPocalypseHow did it get to be last Sunday of the month again? Feels like we just posted July yesterday! Lots has happened in the last month. Had a family reunion, trip to WI, another big family party, Josh went back to school and soon soccer and birthday/holiday season will be upon us. Can't believe we're about to have a 9 year old and not one but two 3 year olds in the house! Here they are last month at Mars Cheese Castle in Wisconsin.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/36703455131/in/dateposted-public/" title="Mars Cheese Castle"><img alt="Mars Cheese Castle" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4420/36703455131_6801a924df_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
On to the stitching. It feels like I didn't get a lot done last month but looking at the pictures I did manage some progress. First, a new start- Joe's Garage, a Mill Hill Button & Bead kit.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/36703256621/in/dateposted-public/" title="Joe's Garage 8/27/17"><img alt="Joe's Garage 8/27/17" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4442/36703256621_836f9954df_m.jpg" width="180" /></a> </div>
<br />
Made the tiniest amount of progress on my chalkboard ornaments.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/36672282392/in/dateposted-public/" title="Chalkboard ornaments 8/27/17"><img alt="Chalkboard ornaments 8/27/17" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4442/36672282392_96ef52e40a_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And gave the Vervaco teddy bear a face.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/36008538894/in/dateposted-public/" title="Vervaco Birth Announcement 8/27/17"><img alt="Vervaco Birth Announcement 8/27/17" height="180" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4431/36008538894_37c5b041be_m.jpg" width="240" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<br />
Hoping to finish off Joe's Garage this month and maybe the Vervaco piece too. Fingers crossed the trio of snotty boys decides to camp out in front of the TV so I can get a couple hours in this afternoon before Erich comes home tonight. He's been gone this weekend for a gaming tournament and the boys decided to all catch the same cold at the same time so they could use a quiet day before get to Monday. Happy Stitching all!Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-77213266684807711642017-07-30T09:50:00.000-04:002017-07-30T09:51:57.508-04:00July WIPocalypseI think I've got my photo storage and linking problems solved with Flickr, still a little annoyed at the lack of notice from Photobucket on their policy change but I'll continue on with Flickr for now and maybe go back and redo old links as I get a chance. Good thing is the old pics are all still there at Photobucket, the links from here just don't show it because they don't want to do third party hosting without a hefty fee.<br />
<br />
Anyway, on to the check in since it is once again last Sunday of the month and WIPocalypse time. I actually feel like I accomplished quite a lot this month. I managed a finish and work on several projects. First up, I finished LHN's America for my Mom. I stitched on a scrap of some unknown evenweave from my stash with the recommended DMC. I was hoping to get it backed and finished off before the 4th but just haven't had the time or been in the right mood.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/35457916293/in/dateposted-public/" title="America"><img alt="America" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4299/35457916293_1d278ccca0_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was also in the mood to stitch over one so I got some work done on Coppervein too. I'm getting close to a page finish but the light colored confetti on the right side of his wing tip goes on forever.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/35457308303/in/album-72157683272452093/" title="Coppervein 7/29/17"><img alt="Coppervein 7/29/17" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4306/35457308303_f4613a683e_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The ornament pile grew a bit too with a few additions to the chalkboard ornament pile. Hoping that by starting early I won't be scrambling in December but I'm sure I'd get sidetracked at some point, seems to happen every year! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/36219706606/in/album-72157683272452093/" title="Chalkboard ornaments 7/29/17"><img alt="Chalkboard ornaments 7/29/17" height="180" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4312/36219706606_8a2b7884a4_m.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And finally a birth announcement start. There's a little one coming in October and he needs some teddy bears so I'm going to give him a Vervaco I've had for awhile. I can't find a name for it but I've got the kit# around here somewhere if someone wants to try to find it. This is my second time stitching it so I converted the leftover kit floss to DMC and bought some ivory 32 count Lugano to stitch this version on.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/35867826700/in/album-72157683272452093/" title="Vervaco birth announcement 7/29/17"><img alt="Vervaco birth announcement 7/29/17" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4307/35867826700_f511255a8e_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That's it for my July progress. Planning to continue on with ornaments and the teddy bears in August and hopefully finish the bears and replace them with Teresa Wentzler's You Were Hatched. We've got a trip to Chicago/WI planned in a couple weeks so I'll probably pull out some Mill Hill kits for the car that weekend. I've only got a bin full of them waiting to be stitched so not too many to choose from! With the trip and school and soccer starting up again August is looking like a busy month already. Hope you all are having a good and stitchy Summer too.</div>

I can still upload for free but $300 a year to share my hobby pics seems a bit steep to me. Exploring other options and hope to have pics back online soon.Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825618621007723469noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35799956.post-50400849879576284372017-06-25T10:10:00.000-04:002017-07-30T09:08:45.134-04:00June WIPocalypse<span style="color: #454545; font-family: "uictfonttextstylebody"; font-size: 17px;">Hi there, sorry about last month. Life got kind of crazy for a bit but is hopefully settling down again. We had kind of a blur of First Communion, Celebration, end of school, soccer season, and Mom had knee replacement surgery all combined with extra shifts at work to help cover summer vacations. </span><br />
<span style="color: #454545; font-family: "uictfonttextstylebody"; font-size: 17px;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #454545; font-family: "uictfonttextstylebody"; font-size: 17px;">I did make it to Celebration and had a wonderful time. There is definitely no other event quite like this around me. I came home relaxed, with new friends, new stitchy ideas, some new stash, and a definite stitchy bug. I had a chance to meet such stitching celebrities as Erin of <a href="http://ftnfk.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Fairy Tales and French Knots</a>, Abi of <a href="https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC2PxwZCKJripSAAH8twIJcw" target="_blank">you tube</a> fame and last but certainly not least <a href="http://measi.net/measiblog/" target="_blank">Measi</a> herself. There were tons of other awesome stitchers too but those are the ones I know of off the top of my head with an online presence. A couple quick pics I took since I'm sure everyone has shared bunches already-</span><br />

I've got lots of WIP pics since I skipped last month so let's dig right in. I got my birth<br />
announcement framed just in time to start another soon for another cousin due in the fall...<br />

I made it to the edge of Castles and have kind of stalled out there, mostly in favor of smalls. Can't actually find that one at the moment in the mess that is the craft room/office/game storage room so I'll have to get it next time. </div>

Then there's Country Cottage Needlework's Love Birds which I stitched mostly at Celebration<br />
and finished shortly after...</div>

One of my stash acquisitions at Celebration was a fat half of Slate linen from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie which I'm using part of for the Hands On Design Chalkboard ornaments that came out last year. I'm thinking of adding real jingle bells to a few instead of stitched ones so Be Jolly isn't quite done yet. Here's where I'm at now.</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">

<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
And finally I'm almost finished with Little House Needlework's America, just in time for July 4th though I don't know if I'll have time to get it display-ready this week. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">

</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Lovebirds and America are part of a series of seasonal smalls I'm hoping to finish for my Mom.<br />
My parents just downsized into a condo and she's gotten rid of tons of her old decorations (non-stitched pieces) so I bought her a small easel for her new mantle (which hasn't been installed yet but will be) and have planned a number of pieces to finish flat to display there throughout the year. I've started another CCN piece too but it's in timeout for being off a single stitch that's going to cause me to frog a bunch to fix. I'll show you that one later when I'm not angry at it anymore. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Finally, my stitching space. It isn't really all that exciting since I have to hide the stitching stuff from my twins until I'm ready to stitch but this is my recliner in the family room with my favorite fleece blanket since our family room is in the basement and it gets cold down there.<br />
I've got a decent floor lamp with a small adjustable light and a side table big enough for coffee and a WIP.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150047844@N03/35406606880/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0525"><img alt="IMG_0525" height="240" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4209/35406606880_a0352f5a60_m.jpg" width="180" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
That's all until next month, stay cool and keep stitching! </div>

Spring activities are in full swing and my oldest son has started his soccer season in addition to making his First Communion yesterday at church which meant a big family party with lots of family and prep work. Completely worth it though, he had a great day and a big smile on his face.</span><br />

So what did I do this month? Well, I gave the angel some wings...</div>

<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
And I also made a start on Castles in the Air. It's being stitched on Lupine 32ct linen from Picture This Plus with DMC 712. I'm planning on swapping the charted text with a quote so I'm attempting to work across the bottom and then I'll start placing my lines of text and work out the final version. Getting close to the edge!</div>

Those are really my only 2 projects from the last month outside of kitting some smalls for Celebration. I'm planning on stitching until I can't see straight and having an excellent time meeting new stitchers as well as some I've known online for years. And if you happen to be there and see a stitcher with an awesome flamingo tote please stop by and say hi!<br />

I finally got the TUSAL dates into my master calendar so hopefully I'll remember it more often now. </span><br />
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
So let's start with TUSAL since it's the quicker one (show off your orts for fun) and kind of leads into the other check-in. Here's my collection of orts for the moment. This is the whole year's worth as I only empty the jar on January 1. I've been stitching a lot of HAED lately so I don't exactly have a need to empty more often since I'm stitching 1x1 on 28 count most of the time. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/TUSAL/3BE180C6-39BA-4998-B520-C0D143517609_zpsoyslom1p.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/TUSAL/3BE180C6-39BA-4998-B520-C0D143517609_zpsoyslom1p.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Not too impressive so far but we'll get there. Not sure I'll be adding much this month as we've got bunches of things packed in- Spring break which doesn't mean much to my 2nd grader except that we're planning a museum day trip, Easter, the beginning of soccer season, 3 big family birthdays and a First Communion and party. May should be more stitchy as I'm attending <a href="http://celebrationofnw.com/" target="_blank">Celebration of Needlework</a> in Nashua and plan on making the most of my kid free crafty time. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
So moving on to WIPocalypse, where I'm attempting to stitch the everything before the world ends. Here's what's been making all those orts. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
First up is Coppervein and I finally finished my page for the HAED Facebook challenge. One down and 52 1/2 to go!</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/E88FC765-23CE-472A-B2DD-7EF568FAF69C_zps6f9gdnvs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/E88FC765-23CE-472A-B2DD-7EF568FAF69C_zps6f9gdnvs.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Made a little progress on the Jim Shore angel but really just spent most of my time frogging it back out. Hoping to get farther on those wings this month. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/F2B11748-3A9C-407D-B8F8-F3C00963ABE3_zpst9l4ckny.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/F2B11748-3A9C-407D-B8F8-F3C00963ABE3_zpst9l4ckny.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
And finally my soon to be WIP- Long Dog Sampler's Castles in the Air. I've got a bit of prep work to do on this one but I think it will be worth the effort. I'll be stitching on 32 count Lupine linen from Picture This Plus with DMC 712. I'm working on recharging the words at the bottom right now. I'm not loving them so I'm replacing them with a quote from Thoreau instead. I think to do it properly so the words all fit in a reasonable space and have a good amount of detail I'll be doing a little over 1 stitching in this section and maybe add a few small motifs in some of the empty space so it looks more like part of the original. I'm hoping to get this going and take it to Celebration since it's just one color and should be pretty easy going outside the quote area. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/B8A79C85-469B-41BC-A85F-23AC9D8DD38C_zps1pwotan3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/B8A79C85-469B-41BC-A85F-23AC9D8DD38C_zps1pwotan3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
<br />
And let's not forget my helpers while taking pictures this morning. Apparently we're in the clothes optional phase of toddlerdom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Kids/5D588C17-48D8-4A91-9BC1-6F3103EEB96F_zps36flz6t0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Kids/5D588C17-48D8-4A91-9BC1-6F3103EEB96F_zps36flz6t0.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Can't wait to see what everyone else has been stitching!</div>

Hoping the stitchy trend continues in March, but for now on to my progress for Measi's <a href="http://measi.net/measiblog/wipocalypse_main/2017-wipocalypse-info-page/" target="_blank">WIPocalypse SAL</a>.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First up is a finish- Baby Max had arrived and I have finished his birth announcement and sent it off for framing. The piece is Vervaco's Sleeping Baby and was stitched on 32 count evenweave (Lugana?) from my stash. The chart is from a kit and I have stitched it before so I actually converted the kit floss to DMC and used that. Framing should be done in a week or two, in time for an update pic next check in.</div>
<div>

<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also made some progress on my HAED challenge. I've been slowed down a bit on Coppervein this month because of a new start but I think I'm still on track to finish my page before the April deadline if I keep at it while the boys are sleeping instead of my new start. Here's where my dragon stands...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/29040DB3-F824-4A12-9AB2-2C1032F60903_zpsg4taoux4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/29040DB3-F824-4A12-9AB2-2C1032F60903_zpsg4taoux4.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And the new start is a magazine piece from the now out of print Cross Stitch & Needlework, January 2009 issue. I can't remember what they called it but it's based on a Jim Shore angel. I'm stitching her on 32 count linen with the recommended DMC. It will have some beading and treasures and I'm thinking of beading the tree garland too. For now, holy quarter stitches! I'm hoping they pay off with some awesome detail when the back stitching is done. I'm trying to use this as my WIP when the boys are up as it is relatively simple but I've been picking it up at night when I should be stitching HAED lately. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/050D5401-B2C2-4DF3-A09E-2D3ECE216929_zps2kr8ah91.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/050D5401-B2C2-4DF3-A09E-2D3ECE216929_zps2kr8ah91.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think I've got my lineup of smallish 2017 projects somewhat set. I'll try and update my WIPocalypse page by next time. My plan is to have 2 main WIPs, a smallish and simpler one for when the boys are awake and playing or watching TV and something a bit more complicated for nap time and after bedtime. I'm planning BAPs off my WIP list for night time and ornaments and smalls for daytime stitching. I've got several smallish gifts I'd like to give this year as well as a pile of ornaments to stitch. The angel I've started is to be for my mother in law's Christmas as she has a Jim Shore collection. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And before I forget, Measi has a question of us this month- What is your <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">favorite stitch other than the standard cross stitch? (bonus points if you provide a how-to link or diagram it on your blog post!)</span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">So many good stitches out there but I think I will go with the Rhodes stitch, particularly in the heart form. I had a project that used borders heavy on these a few years before I got into blogging and the online stitching community and they were a lot of fun and added a little 3D to the piece. Here's a <a href="http://www.needlework-tips-and-techniques.com/rhodes-stitch.html" target="_blank">how-to link</a> in case you've missed out until now.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">And finally, I'm excitedly watching for updates over at the Celebration of Needlework page because I am attending the May conference for the first time. I've been talking about it for a few years and the time is finally right. The boys are old enough to leave with one parent so I'm going to Celebration in May and Erich is going to a gaming tournament in August with some family weekend and day trips in the works instead of a big family vacation this year. So if you too will be at Celebration in May and want to meet up please drop me a comment or email at justanotherflamingo@yahoo.com and we will try to make that happen. </span></div>

First off, thank you for all the kind words about my projects and helpers too:).<br />
<br />
I've managed to make good progress on two projects this month. I'm almost done with the Sleeping Baby birth announcement, just a bit left to go and the personalization but we're still waiting on baby to arrive too so I'm kind of on hold here for at least a few more days. Baby is due Feb. 1 but I'm sure he will arrive just when he is ready.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/86DCEA75-48FD-4585-BD38-B3CBBE011BE9_zpsjqnntvhf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/86DCEA75-48FD-4585-BD38-B3CBBE011BE9_zpsjqnntvhf.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also have put in some hours on Coppervein. I usually stitch in columns straight up the design but I wanted to participate in a HAED challenge on the official FB group so I had to find a nearby page with no stitches done. The challenge runs through April 7 and the task is simple- complete 1 page. I think I've got s good start and am on track to complete in plenty of time to make the deadline especially since the birth announcement is nearly done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/273E5888-336D-4DBF-A86E-3CB5CF5D497E_zpsbnkrkuay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/273E5888-336D-4DBF-A86E-3CB5CF5D497E_zpsbnkrkuay.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I've also been slowly putting together supplies to make a birthday gift for my grandmother. She will be 83 in August and is the reason I started stitching so I'd like to do something special for her. I've<br />
chosen the Spring Box from the Victoria Sampler Beautiful Finishing series. I'm converting the solid silks to DMC and I think I've got the colors as I want them, just need to settle on a fabric. I should add that I am going to get the variegated Gloriana silk, just can't justify subbing such a pretty color that is used so much throughout the designs. Here's what I've gathered so far...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/3B830ECF-F21D-49F4-B028-C241E32B8887_zpsecxm6ywd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/3B830ECF-F21D-49F4-B028-C241E32B8887_zpsecxm6ywd.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And finally, Measi's question for the month- What SALs are you participating in this year?<br />
<br />
This one, of course, and I may pop in and out of the TUSAL over at <a href="http://itsdaffycat.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">It's Daffycat</a> if I can remember to check in. With all the little boys in the house it's hard to get regular stitching and blogging time so some months I get bunches done and then some months not so much so it can be hard to keep up and feel like I'm actually contributing to too many groups. Maybe I'll add more in a few years when everyone is a bit more independent. I'm just happy to get a few stitches in occasionally while they're all awake for now. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With any luck I'll have a finished birth announcement and maybe even a finished HAED page to show off next month. I may add in a new small project out of my pile too so I have something simple to work on while the boys are awake. Can't wait to see everyone else's progress, hope it was a very stitchy January!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/TUSAL/601AA01B-8A8D-4F98-AF4F-1FA0C1E17AA9_zpsmtdaqhe6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/TUSAL/601AA01B-8A8D-4F98-AF4F-1FA0C1E17AA9_zpsmtdaqhe6.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
New year, fresh start. Time to empty out the 2016 orts and start over. 2016 wasn't the best year for me but not the absolute worst either. We lost some family members, dealt with some illness (extended family), but also took some fun trips, spent good times with friends and had a little more free time for hobbies. My 2016 ort jar is definitely more full than the last couple despite being shook up and dumped a few times by my favorite helpers. The boys are all a year older and have grown so much since last January.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Kids/C2DEC966-BF7D-42C3-B9D5-C85C4BE52435_zpsh1y3z2wl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Kids/C2DEC966-BF7D-42C3-B9D5-C85C4BE52435_zpsh1y3z2wl.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm excited for so many things in 2017- more soccer for Josh, a trip to Celebration of Needlework for me in May, and of course another year of <a href="http://measi.net/measiblog/" target="_blank">Measi's WIPocalypse SAL</a>. My blogging and stitching has been spotty over the last couple years with babies in the house but I'm hoping to improve on that this year. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So welcome if this is your first visit and here's a short intro- I'm Sara, wife, Mom of 3 boys, retail pharmacist and stitcher of BAPs (note that does not read finisher!). I love the big pieces but I stitch<br />
plenty of smaller things too. My taste in designers ranges from tiny Mill Hill kits to Teresa Wentzler<br />
and Heaven and Earth designs and lots in between. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My goal for 2017 is simple- stitch. As I said, I have 3 boys in the house, an 8 year old and twin 2 year olds, so my stitching time has been limited to nap time and after bedtime. The twins will sometimes<br />
allow me to stitch on something simple while they play and watch cartoons lately though I am getting lots of "help" while I do. I guess I will have to organize my stitching by complexity this year- ornaments and small pieces during the day and HAED and other larger pieces at night. As far as specific pieces I don't have a solid list for 2017 but there are 3 main HAED pieces I'd like to make progress on...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Coppervein, my main focus as it is a gift for my brother-</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/5478ABE5-3A6D-4857-AE95-8E4D535F1288_zpsz0xwhdb3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/5478ABE5-3A6D-4857-AE95-8E4D535F1288_zpsz0xwhdb3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Space Traveler, pretty equally for me and my husband-<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/8BFCD00A-631B-4F0B-B941-D96683ABFBED_zpsqyjucus4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/8BFCD00A-631B-4F0B-B941-D96683ABFBED_zpsqyjucus4.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Dragon Master, definitely for me-</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/CB11B018-832D-471E-8CF8-20F4B4D28430_zpsucxiimxe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/CB11B018-832D-471E-8CF8-20F4B4D28430_zpsucxiimxe.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
There are a number of smaller pieces I'd like to work in as well. The only must is the Vervaco birth announcement I'm working on for my cousin who has a baby boy due in February. Here's my current starting spot on that...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/39E4E6B0-F2CC-42AE-A249-DDC104AB42AC_zpsrbijgxo8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m123/rxlady100/Current%20WIPs/39E4E6B0-F2CC-42AE-A249-DDC104AB42AC_zpsrbijgxo8.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
The rest of my very fluid list includes but is in no way limited to</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
-a yet to be determined block from CCN's Frosty Forest set for my Mom</div>
<div>
-a Mill Hill Christmas village kit</div>
<div>
-maybe some of the chalkboard ornaments from Hands On Designs</div>
<div>
-a possible start on Death By Cross Stitch from Long Dog Samplers</div>
<div>
-some things I haven't even thought of yet but will see at Celebration</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm off to a good start at the very least since this should be posted on time (writing on 12/31). I'm also excited to be part of Measi's Facebook group this year. I'm on FB every day anyway so it's a great quick place to check in though I love the idea of keeping the blog for goals and longer check ins. See you all at the end of the month for the first check in! </div>
